Biography
She was born in 1953 in Gelendost District of Isparta. Because she was born as a harbinger of spring, her family decided to name her Nisan (April), but later changed it to Neriman. Her love of painting began in childhood. It continued at school, where she painted her friends' pictures or completed her siblings' homework. First, she saw faces yearning for light. Then she came to know the veiled heads of lives woven thread by thread. She witnessed the journeys of scarves adorned with the colors of life, flowing to the edge of purity on rosy cheeks. She started painting in 1995. Her teacher, Benan Sümer, ensured that her passion for drawing became an irreversible way of life. She attended classes in her painting studio for a long time. Then, in the same studio, the vibrant, positive light of Meral Metin further strengthened the bond she formed between canvas and colors, making it indispensable. Later, in classes with Gülay Fin, she encountered art history. More recently, as a visiting student at the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Akdeniz University, she became acquainted with the powerful drawings of Assim Resuloğlu. Her paintings reflect the happy expressions of traditional portraits still alive around her. The easily understandable forms, colors, and traditional motifs showcase the artist's naive, sincere, and spontaneous painting style, revealing the beauty of everyday life. The unpretentious, contented happiness of the Anatolian folk woman is particularly evident in her eyes. The artist, who has participated in solo and various group exhibitions, creates a sense of familiarity with the people around her, fostering a warm, mutual connection in her work.
