Biography
Sami Solmaz is a photographer, filmmaker, and writer.
Born in Diyarbakır in 1963, he began photography in 1984 at the age of 21. His work and writings have appeared in leading news magazines such as Newsweek and in important Turkish publications such as Cumhuriyet and Gündem, including Black&White.
In 1993, he developed an interest in the Middle East and traveled to many countries and regions, researching the effects of war and religion on local communities to document and tell the stories of oppressed people. His work during this period includes books, exhibitions, films, and documentaries.
