Biography
Turhan Selçuk was born in Milas in 1922 and graduated from Adana Boys' High School. He published his first cartoon in 1941 in the Türk Sözü newspaper in Adana; in 1942, he joined the cartoonist staff of Akbaba magazine. He worked as a cartoonist for Milliyet, Akşam, and Yeni İstanbul newspapers, as well as various magazines. He was among the founders of the Cartoonists Association and served as its Chairman. In 1957, he began drawing Abdülcanbaz in Milliyet, which brought him great fame; he adapted the work to the stage in 1972, which received great attention. He did printmaking work at Çamlıca Art House in 1985 and 1996, and at İMOGA in 2005. He passed away in Istanbul in 2010.
