Biography
Khanlar Akhmadov was born in Baku on June 12, 1946. He graduated from the A. Azimzade Azerbaijan State School of Painting and the Ostrovsky Institute of Painting in Russia. His works have been featured in international exhibitions since 1968. He has been a member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1975. Primarily working in the fields of sculptural and monumental sculpture, Khanlar Akhmadov is the author of numerous monumental projects. His works have been exhibited in France, Germany, Iran, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and other countries. His original and striking works are included in many museums and private collections. Khanlar Akhmadov is also the author of a series of works reflecting the Khojaly massacre. Examples of these include "Nale," "Mother and Child," "Burnt Woman," and "Father's Cry." He is also the creator of the relief sculptures at the "Azatlık Prospekti" metro station. Additionally, there are artifacts reflecting Azerbaijani history at the entrance of the metro.
He received the Youth Prize in Moscow in 1976 and a bronze medal at the USSR Agricultural Exhibition in 1982. He won the "Humay" award in 1995-96.
