Biography
Zakir Ahmedov, born in Baku in 1955, is an Azerbaijani sculptor and painter. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State School of Painting named after Azim Azimzade in 1978 and from the sculpture department of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts in 1988. He has participated in national and international exhibitions since 1978; in 1989 he became a member of the Azerbaijan and USSR Artists' Unions. The artist, who produces works in the fields of monuments, reliefs, and small plastic sculptures, was awarded the Humay National Prize in 2005. His works are included in private collections in many countries, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
