Biography
Arif Aziz, born in Baku in 1943, is an Azerbaijani painter, graphic artist, and art educator. He studied at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts from 1957 to 1962, and subsequently received training in graphic design in Moscow. Since the 1970s, Aziz has worked in the field of art education, holding professorships and administrative positions at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts; and in the 2000s, he taught at Beykent University in Istanbul. Known for his works that combine figurative art, portraiture, traditional Azerbaijani ornamentation, and abstraction, his pieces are included in collections such as the Baku Museum of Modern Art, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and the Senegal State Art Museum. He holds the title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan.
