Biography
Born in Istanbul, Ayşen ERTE received piano lessons throughout her primary and secondary education. She graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1976. Until 1988, she worked as a freelance graphic designer and photographer in various advertising agencies. From 1988 onwards, she focused on children's book design and illustration, as well as original printmaking and painting. In 2001, Ayşen ERTE established her "Engraving Painting" workshop. She has held 25 solo exhibitions and participated in 73 group and 130 mixed exhibitions. Her works have been selected for important collections both in Turkey and abroad. She has received 39 exhibition awards, 8 honorable mentions, and 1 "excellent prize" (Ju Qi Cup at the 1st International Prints and Exl. Expo in Shanghai). Her works have been published in Artur Mario da Mota Miranda's books "Volume 17" (Women Artists in the World of Ex-libris) and "Contemporary International Ex-libris Artists". The artists from his studio were also featured in the books "Volume 18, 19, 20". The works of the artists from his "Engraving Painting" studio were selected for and won awards in 41 group exhibitions, 12 in Anatolia, and 19 abroad, and were included in catalogs. The artist continues his painting and printmaking work in his studio and gives training seminars.
