Biography
Filiz Başaran was born in Edremit, Balıkesir in 1951. She decided to pursue painting in 1963. In 1968, she entered the State Applied Fine Arts High School. In addition to painting, she also worked on zinc engravings at the school. She graduated from the Painting Department of the State Applied Fine Arts High School in 1972. In 1977, she worked in Professor Jose Cuiha's studio at the Salzburg Summer Academy. That same year, she began working as an assistant at the school she had graduated from. For many years, she served as an Associate Professor and Professor in the Painting Department of the Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts (State Applied Fine Arts High School), contributing to education. She created prints at Çamlıca Art House in 1987 and 1988, and at IMOGA in 2006, 2012, and 2013. Filiz Başaran emphasizes sensitivity and attention to detail in her work, which focuses on life and nature. She continues her work using different techniques and materials, including painting and printmaking.
