Biography

I was born on August 5, 1933, in Meseniya Village, Trabzon. Since my family moved to Samsun, I completed my education there. During my high school years, encouraged by my art teacher, I began to draw very well. Through the manager of the İnci Cinema, whom I met during those years, I started making posters for the cinema. Of course, these posters were made with a mixture of glue and powdered paint. I had learned how to paint at school. In those days, I followed the works of artists who drew cinema posters in Istanbul. I studied the colors in the paintings of world artists in museums. I internalized them one by one. Since I didn't have a master, I worked very hard to surpass myself and always do my best. Thus, this adventure continued until 1961, including my military service. In 1961, I settled in Istanbul. I started working with major film companies such as Acar, And, Erman, and Be-Ya; I gave up poster making for lanterns and started creating original posters with gouache paints. In 1980, I made 40 oil paintings about Atatürk and exhibited them at Etap Marmara. These paintings are currently on display in high schools and military units. Due to the length of my surname Küçükenez, I signed my works as İbrahim Enez. To date, I have made 600 posters for Turkish film companies, 300 in gouache and 300 in oil. In 2013, I opened my second oil painting exhibition at the International Antalya Film Festival. I was awarded a certificate and a Golden Orange. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of cinema, I opened my third exhibition at the TÜYAP Fair and my fourth exhibition in Aliağa, İzmir. I also received an award from the Beşiktaş Municipality of Istanbul. I received another award from the Çanakkale Governorship for a painting I participated in during the 100th anniversary of the Çanakkale battles. 14 of my Turkish and 25 American film posters are permanently exhibited at the IMOGA Graphic Arts Museum; 14 of my Turkish film posters, 20 portraits, and 1 large-scale painting are permanently exhibited at the Beyoğlu Türker İnanoğlu TÜRVAK Museum. The Horizon Nejdet Arkın collection includes 150 of my oil paintings. Four of my works are exhibited at the Müjdat Gezen Theatre and four at the Necip Sarıcı Museum. In this catalog and exhibition, I am showcasing three cinematic beauties each from American Cinema, European Cinema, and Turkish Cinema. I present them for your appreciation.
